iRise Carbon has been selected as one of just six innovative project developers worldwide to join CEEZER's Carbon Coalition Accelerator Cohort 04 — the first-ever cohort dedicated exclusively to Nature-based Solutions. Developed by Offset8 Capital, iRise's Climate and Community Transformation Program in Malawi was chosen from over 50 global applicants across 27 countries, recognised for its large-scale afforestation and reforestation using 100% indigenous tree species under Verra's VM0047 methodology.
CEEZER, the leading procurement partner for Climate Performance Assets, has announced the six project developers selected for the fourth cohort of its Carbon Coalition Accelerator — the programme's first cohort dedicated entirely to Nature-based Solutions.
iRise Carbon, developed by Offset8 Capital Limited, has been named one of these six standout developers — a significant milestone in the project's global recognition and commercial trajectory.
Cohort 04 marks a historic evolution for the Carbon Coalition Accelerator. For the first time, all six selected participants focus exclusively on high-integrity Nature-based Solutions, reflecting the growing enterprise demand for biodiversity-positive, community-driven carbon projects.
The cohort received applications from more than 50 project developers across 27 countries, making this one of the most competitive selection processes in the programme's history. The six developers chosen represent a new generation of NbS pioneers — combining rigorous methodological standards with measurable community impact.
Selected from 50+ applicants across 27 countries — iRise Carbon is one of just six project developers worldwide chosen for CEEZER's Carbon Coalition Accelerator Cohort 04.
Offset8 Capital Limited is developing iRise's Climate and Community Transformation Program, a project that restores degraded former cropland in Malawi through large-scale afforestation and reforestation using 100% indigenous tree species under Verra's VM0047 methodology.
The programme engages smallholder farming communities across Malawi as active participants and custodians of restored forest land. Community members are employed as paid stewards of the trees — creating a direct income stream that ties environmental restoration to economic empowerment at the grassroots level.
With millions of trees already planted and a target of over 800,000 tonnes of carbon removals, iRise's programme is one of the most ambitious community-led reforestation initiatives on the African continent.
Through the Carbon Coalition Accelerator, iRise Carbon gains direct access to CEEZER's network of enterprise-level carbon buyers — companies seeking the highest-quality, highest-integrity carbon credits available in the voluntary market.
“We're proud to welcome these six innovative NbS project developers to our fourth cohort. Each of these organisations represents the kind of high-integrity, community-focused approach that enterprise buyers are increasingly demanding. We look forward to supporting their growth.”
